I saved my booster until the end of the level to pick up the last card but the game ended. why wouldn't it let me use it?

Boosters and helpers are there to help you progress in the level and get you closer to finish, by also increasing your streak lengths. If you pull the last card of your deck and it doesn't have a match on the board, it is game over. Plan to use your boosters before this happens!
